Some Tips for Practising Singing and Playing Guitar

    by Simon James.

With singing, keep the strumming patterns on your guitar really simple to begin with, and sing over the top. Loop each line of every song that you sing over and over. As the simple strumming pattern gets stronger, start to add an extra note or strum to the pattern. Then when that becomes strong add a one or two more. Do these slowly so that you don't ever lose the rhythm and then gradually speed up. As soon as you start to lose rhythm and coordination, slow down and simplify again.

Do this over and over and your rhythm play will become very solid and you'll start to feel more comfortable singing.

Also, using a metronome will help your guitar rhythms.
