Beginners Rumba Progression
The Rumba is an essential element in the repertoire of the Flamenco Guitarist. It is known as one of the ida y vuelta or coming home songs as it was re-incorporated into Spanish music from Afro-Cuban rhythms from the New World.
It is an upbeat rhythm, synonymous with the fiesta and is played usually accompanied by dancers whose prominent hip and shoulder movements are matched by the accents on the guitar strumming.
The Rumba can be a complicated rhythm so in this lesson we look at a primer lesson covering the type of chord voicings used in a standard rhumba progression and also the right hand rhythm pattern.
