Fret Hand Technique: The Spider
Technical Exercises are extremely important no matter what level of musician you are. They develop muscle memory and can improve your technique.
This exercise consist of making 5th Intervals and then moving up a semi tone at a time on each string. By practicing this regularly you will train your fingers to make very small movements by literally "clamping" your fret hand to the fret board, thus aiding speed and fluency.
Learn the following exercise slowly and practice repeating it. This one will really make your hand stiffen up, so as soon as it begins to hurt stop and take a rest. gradually increase the number of repetitions each time to build up strength.
